CODAN Limited together with AT Electronic & Communication International is pleased to announce about introducing of new CODAN 8800 series Digital Microwave Radio (DMR).
The CODAN 8800 PDH radio was introduced in 2005 and features the latest 21st century technology offering sophisticated performance combined with simple operational functionality.
The CODAN 8800 digital microwave radio offers one of the lowest costs of ownership for an operator because:
- High level of reliability supported by 3 year warranty.
- Simple training and operational requirements.
- Simple logistics, planning and inventory costs because of modular design and few components.
- No additional upgrade license costs.
The performance and reliability of CODAN 8800 digital microwave radios are paramount importance. This is supported and substantiated by a CODAN 3 year warranty, the best in the industry.
The CODAN 8800 DMR primarily consists of three modular units: indoor unit, an outdoor unit and a data interface.
The CODAN 8800 DMR range is based on just one indoor unit (IDU) that is used for every application and capacity.
For any given frequency, one pair of outdoor units (ODU) can be used for every application and every capacity.
The CODAN 8800 can be configured for use from 2E, 16E1 or E3 plus 1E1. The radio is configurable in software. There are no additional licenses or keys required to change the capacity.
An alternative plug-in data interface unit enables 4E1 plus 4 x LAN. The LAN ports are configurable by software.
The indoor unit features an LCD display screen. This enables the local and the remote radio to be fully configured on site. This provides significant advantages when engineers do not have a laptop with them.
Improved link performance in difficult conditions:
- Continuous phase, four state, frequency shift key modulation is less prone than QPSK to the effects of multi-path reflection.
- Automatic Transmit Power Control (ATPC) and Remote Transmit Power Control (RTPC) enables the transmit level of the far end radio to be adjusted. The range is 10dBm up to the maximum level of the radio in 1 dB increments. The ATPC parameters are configured in software.
- Adaptive Receiver Intermediate Frequency is a unique CODAN feature that detects any adjacent channel interference and then shifts the IF frequency such that the interfering channel is rendered outside of the range of the band pass filter.
- Reed-Solomon Forward Error Correction (FEC) corrects up to 20 error bytes in a 255-byte frame.
1+1 hot standby, space diversity or frequency diversity can be easily be implemented by combining two identical 8800 radios. The redundancy switching software is incorporated within each radio resulting in 100% redundancy with no common point of failure.
MI Net software is provided with every 8800 radio.
MINet is an intuitive network management system with enhance monitoring and diagnostic tools. This provides three application levels:
- Maintenance level. This enables configuration and maintenance. Both the local and remote terminal can be viewed and configured simultaneously.
- Network management. MI Net can be connected to an 8800 microwave network, either directly to an indoor unit, via a LAN or even via the Internet. Every CODAN 8800 digital microwave radio on the network can be monitored or re-configured remotely.
- MI Net is an SNMP element manager that integral with SNMP network managers such as HP Open View and SNMP c.
The outdoor unit is only 4.9kg, one of the lightest in the industry. It fits to a direct mount antenna with just two spring clips. Very easy to replace if required.
The CODAN 8800 consumes only 46W, one of lowest in the industry. This results in low running temperatures and long operational life and enables solar powered applications in remote environments.
